Biography
Jeari Czapla is a 5 time nominated Edmonton Jazz Musician and a Great Canadian Jazz Guitarist that has become an Internationally
renowned Jazz Guitarist. He is originally
from Winnipeg & now lives in Edmonton; His music is heard around
the world in 16 countries.
Czapla's musicianship & artistry put his original music on Jazz Charts
both domestically & internationally. Jeari watched
his music reach #1 on Canadian Jazz Charts, and has
witnessed his music recognized at the 47th. Annual Grammy
Awards. He was the only independent Canadian Jazz
Artist to
make that short list.
Czapla Is A
Versatile Musician:
Czapla's band
"Uptown Shuffle" started out as a country band performing 38
weekends out of 52 weekends annually throughout Alberta.
After seven years "Uptown Shuffle" merged from a country band to
a blues and rock band and then quickly began performing at
different venues. It wasn't long before Czapla & "Uptown
Shuffle" were performing at rock venues on Wednesday, country
venues on Thursday, and a Jazz venues on the weekends.
Czapla became very popular with venues & their clientele and
soon began performing at major venues across Canada [Toronto
Skydome, The Yale Hotel, Dazzle in Denver]. Czapla's
repertoire has grown beyond imagination, and he has become one
extremely versatile musician. His love for music has more
recently settled in the jazz genre, and now he utilizes his
entire repertoire to please any audience member in any music
venue.
Czapla says, "Don't be surprised
if your at one my Jazz gigs, and suddenly you hear a Merle
Haggard, Junior Wells, or a Guess Who tune. With that in
mind, don't be surprised if you at one of my other gigs and hear
a jazz tune"
As an Edmonton
& Winnipeg Jazz Musician he has been active on the Canadian Music Scene for
over 21 years. Czapla
has performed in Jazz Venues, & Jazz Festivals [Edmonton Jazz City,
& The Barrie Jazz Festival] across Canada, and is recognized by his peers as an
innovative jazz guitarist, and industry leader. He is
considered a contemporary Jazz Guitarist with a traditionalist
heart. Czapla is a Composer, music arranger, author, CEO &
Director of Czapla Music Studio's. Currently, Czapla
receives radio airplay for his original compositions on over 60
radio stations world wide, and in 16 different countries.
Originally from Winnipeg,
Czapla's private guitar lessons
with Chet Breau [Lenny Breau School of Music], Tim Cummings,
Paul Hammer, Ruth Douglas, and Bruce Carlson have provided him
with his sound, technique, and musical foundation. Czapla also
studied music at the University of Manitoba, Grant MacEwan Community College,
the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music, and private music studies in
theory, composition, and arranging.
Czapla has excelled with first class honours, and honours in all of his
musical studies.
